Overview
The Curacao Marine Research Centre (CMRC), consisting of a consortium of three local companies, being the Curacao Sea Aquarium, Substation Curacao and RV Chapman Shipping recently received a grant from the European Union’s RESEMBID program. With the grant the Queen Conch Hatchery at Sea Aquarium hopes to reach its goal to stop the dwindling Queen Conch population on Curacao by releasing thousands of cultured juvenile Queen Conch and egg masses to strengthen the local, natural population; to improve fisheries regulations and enforcement; and to provide juveniles for potential local or regional, commercial aquaculture companies or other regional population enhancement programs.
The hatchery is operational since 2021 and grows thousands of juveniles per year.
One of the project goals is to perform baseline inventories of the Queen Conch population in several Curacao Bays. These baseline inventories are key to be able to show the natural population is increasing because of the project’s efforts.
The Queen Conch hatchery is looking for field workers to assist the marine biologist with performing baseline inventories. The baseline inventories consist of half day’s fieldwork, Frequency of the fieldwork will be planned by the marine biologist.
The Field Worker activities:
- Plan baseline inventories with the marine biologist
- Prepare for the baseline inventory such as organizing scuba gear, transport, etc,
- Perform the baseline inventory according to the approved population inventory protocol.
- Assist marine biologist with data analysis.
Requirements:
- Experienced SCUBA diver
- Affinity with nature conservation
- Good written communication skills in English
- Possession of Scuba gear

Key responsibilities

- stimulate the interest in booking the various activities within the Sea Aquarium Park
- provide the guest with accurate information about the park at the information counter;

Skills and Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent;

Job description
The Security Officer must be able to identify and prevent incidents and unsafe situations, as well as act in the event of incidents and calamities, within the scope of the security policy. He or she ensures that the park is safe for employees, visitors and of course the animals. The Security Officer can act where necessary by means of procedures. Safety is number one.
Tasks and responsibilities
A Security Officer has to have these tasks and responsibilities, he or she:
- has to protect company’s property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. Also he or she needs to keep the animals safe.
- has to observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances.
- has to act lawfully in direct defense of life or property.
- has to prehend criminals and evict violators.
- has to take accurate notes of unusual occurrences.
- has to report in detail any suspicious incidents.
- has to patrol randomly or regularly building and perimeter.
- has to monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates.
- has to watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment.
- has to perform first aid or CPR.
- has to sell parking tickets.
has to help with wheelchairs.

The Marketing and Communication Officer is responsible:

- To ensure consistency in all aspects of the company external communications.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of (online) communication, including print, video, publications, website maintenance and social media activities, to support effectively the strategic objectives.
- Assist with creative and impactful marketing strategies for raising the local and international visibility, profile, and brand.
- Contribute to create specific campaigns for long‐term projects to meet agreed strategic priorities, income generation targets and audience development objectives.
- Assist by developing wider networks to pursue joint communication initiatives and develop effective PR campaigns.
- Assist by managing all other communications responsibilities such as maintaining distribution lists, developing and tracking email campaigns, web analytics, electronic templates and compliance with communications standards.
- Ensure that relevant audience is reached with our communication campaigns, as well as regular monitoring and evaluation of campaigns and activities to effectively measure the return.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication Studies or a related field;
- 3 years of marketing and communications experience.
- High proficiency in Dutch and English –with other languages considered an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly skilled in writing clear and concise communications for various communication tools, including offline and online;
- Knowledge of marketing and communication principles, guidelines and best practices, including social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok; Excellent editing, proofreading, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail;

Other job-related activities include preparing fish and dietary needs for the animals, maintenance of the natural lagoon and cleaning up and preparing the lagoon areas. To ensure all of the above, it is essential that a Snorkel Guide for AE has a good physical and mental health, and enjoys working outside instead of behind a desk.

As the host of Dolphin Academy, your friendly demeanor is the first thing our guests sees, and we want you to make it a great lasting impression! As the host you need to provide a great customer service for the Front Office, Photoshop and Dolphin Programs.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure that all guests adhere to the mandatory regulations that apply at Dolphin Academy, such as wearing a mask inside (Front Office, Photoshop, Giftshop)
- Take care that no agglomeration occurs
- Assign the guests to the available counter at the Front Office and the Photoshop
- Assist the guest with filling in the waivers
- Accompany the guests to the Dolphin presentation and assist where necessary
- Assist the guests when the Dolphin Kiss starts and work together with the dolphin trainers and the photographer considering the regulations of COVID-19
- Make sure there is order when the dolphin presentation starts and when the pictures are being taken
- Make sure that at the stand there is a minimum of 2-meter distance between the guests that are not together (a family)
- Before the Dolphin programs starts, make sure that when the groups are divided between the swimmers and the spectators, the spectators are guided to the correct area
- Committed to a good cooperation between the Front Office, Photoshop, Giftshop and Trainers department
