Curaçao Sea Aquarium is de beste locatie van Curaçao voor het verkennen van het onderwaterleven! We gebruiken een Open Watersysteem in onze faciliteit, wat betekent dat vers zeewater continu in de aquaria wordt gepompt en via overlopen naar de zee wordt teruggevoerd, waardoor natuurlijke omgevingen voor alle zeedieren worden gecreëerd zonder chemicaliën of filters te gebruiken. Dit maakt Curaçao Sea Aquarium tot een van 's werelds meest unieke zeeaquaria. Samen met Animal Encounters, Substation Curaçao, de Ocean Lens en Curaçao Dolphin Academy NV vormen ze een fascinerende wereld van diverse mariene organismen en ecosystemen die wachten op jou om te komen ontdekken.
Functieomschrijving
De positie van Queen Conch Aquaculture Operator vereist praktische vaardigheden, de bereidheid om te leren en het vermogen om een breed scala aan functies te implementeren die nodig zijn om een Queen Conch-aquacultuurfaciliteit goed te runnen. De operator voert vastgestelde protocollen uit om de productiviteit van de broederij te verhogen en geeft feedback om de efficiëntie van de dagelijkse werklast te verhogen. De exploitant is verantwoordelijk voor de verzorging van de Queen Conch-eieren, larven en juveniels die zijn gehuisvest in de Queen Conch Hatchery van het Curaçao Sea Aquarium Park. De taken van de exploitant zijn gericht op het bieden van zorg voor deze zeedieren en het handhaven van een hoogwaardige en representatieve omgeving waarin deze dieren kunnen leven.
Belangrijkste verantwoordelijkheden
- Zorg voor de schelpdieren tijdens alle ontwikkelingsstadia.
- Zorg voor de schelpdieren tijdens alle ontwikkelingsstadia.
- Voedselbereiding voor gekweekte koninginnenschelp.
- Correct volgen van voedingsschema's en dagelijkse regimes.
- Laboratoriumapparatuur schoonmaken en onderhouden.
- Dagelijkse logboeken en gegevensverzamelingsbladen invullen
- Onderhoud en reiniging van tanks, containers en slangen.
- Onderwaterwerk met CSA-koninginnenschelppopulatie
- Schelpeieren verzamelen in de dolfijnenpoelen.
- Live rock verzamelen en kweken.
- Sociale media en communicatie.
Assisteren van bezoekende wetenschappers en onderzoeksprogramma's.
Vaardigheden en kwalificaties
- Havodiploma, minimaal VMBO. (Bij voorkeur een afgeronde opleiding Dierverzorging (MBO-niveau).
- Ervaring Dierenverzorging, Aquarium of Dierentuin.
- Kennis van zeeaquaria, organismen en/of ecosystemen.
- Uitstekende communicatieve vaardigheden.
- Stipt en netjes leveren werk.

- Creatief, energiek, flexibel, loyaal, realistisch en toegewijd.
- Goede zwemvaardigheid en een duikbrevet in open water is een pluspunt.
- De aanvrager moet bekwaam zijn in Microsoft Word, Excel en PowerPoint
- De aanvrager moet bekend zijn met elementaire digitale fotografie en internettoepassingen
- Een goede beheersing van de Engelse en Nederlandse taal, Papiaments en Spaans wordt aanbevolen.

Job Description
An aquarist is responsible for the care of fish, corals and invertebrates housed in the Curacao Sea Aquarium Park. Aquarists have a wide variety of duties primarily focused on providing care for marine creatures and maintaining a quality and presentable environment for these animals to live in.
Key responsibilities
- Food Preparation.
- Feeding Schedules and Regimes
- Maintaining and cleaning of the aquaria and other animal housing
- Collecting live foods
- Collecting and culturing live-rock
- Animal Husbandry (touch tanks)
- System Management (touch tanks & aquaria)
- Assisting with collections, holding, and quarantine
- Social Media and Communications
- Assisting visiting scientists and research programs
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school (MAVO/HAVO/VWO)
- Having a natural affection for animals, experience with working with animals professionally is a pre
- Knowledge of marine aquaria, organisms, and/or ecosystems
- Good swimming skills, open water dive certificate is a plus
- Proactive and an outside non-desk job mentality
- Eager to learn
- Flexible
- Ability to work independent or in a team
- Creative
- A good command of Dutch and English language, Papiamentu and Spanish is recommended

As a security guard of Curaçao Sea Aquarium your job is to provide a safe environment for the park. Patrol the park, inside and out (parking areas and building structures), assist the staff and the guests and make it your priority to deliver outstanding guest service. You will also need to perform other duties that may vary, as assigned.Key responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service for guests
- Enforce procedures, regulations, and standards
- Respond quickly to critical situations/emergencies
- Protect property by maintaining a safe environment
- Monitor parking location and assist guests with their parking arrangements as directed
- Controlling access to buildings and protecting employees, guests, and the public
- Patrolling areas and performing security checks
- Ability to read and write detailed reports
Skills and qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience as a security guard
- Service and customer-oriented character
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Flexible to also be available for working different shifts, weekends and holidays when needed
- Good knowledge of Papiamentu, Dutch, English and preferably Spanish
