Job Description

The “Foundation Curaçao Reef Research Centre” is seeking part time professionals for the BestLife2030 (IUCN Europe) project “Reaching conservation goals for the Queen Conch population on Curacao”

This 2-year project needs a part time Marine biologist and projectleader for 1 day per week.

Key responsibilities

• will manage and communicate with the donor organization IUCN Europe
• will be responsible for planning and financial management of the project and will report to the chairman of the Foundation
• will organize population inventory work: conventional transectline inventory and eDNA sampling
• is responsible for setting up regional cooperation with neighboring islands and countries to protect Queen Conch populations
• will support the communications specialist and assistant with approving the new Quen Conch fishery regulation
  

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Academic working and thinking level, desired field of education: Marine Biology
• language skills: Dutch, English fluently
• Experience:
  • at least 10 years of working experience as a biologist in nature conservation projects,
  • preferably 5 year working experience in population protection projects for the Queen Conch
  • good knowledge of the latest developments in the field of marine nature conservation of the Dutch Caribbean islands,
  • proven experience and certification in project management
