Job Description

The “Foundation Curaçao Reef Research Centre” is seeking part time professionals for the BestLife2030 (IUCN Europe) project “Reaching conservation goals for the Queen Conch population on Curacao”

This 2-year project needs a part time Education and communication specialist for 0,5 to 1 day per week

Key responsibilities

• organize and manage all external communication of the project,
• will take the lead in developing Queen Conch education modules for school children, or improving existing modules at Sea Aquarium and Carmabi
• will organize information and awareness activities for the Curacao fisher community with regard to Queen Conch protection
• will communicate with Ministry of GMN to get the new fishery regulation approved with new rules on Queen Conch and Parrotfish fishery
  

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Academic working and thinking level
• Desired field of education: Biology and Communications
• language skills: Dutch, English and Papiamentu fluently
• Experience:
  • at least 5 years of working experience as a biologist or communication expert in communication and education programs
  • good knowledge of the latest developments in the field of marine nature conservation on the Dutch Caribbean islands
  • Knowledge about the life cycle of the Queen Conch
